We are Gloria's Angels, founded by Doug and Kristen Strauss.  Doug was a high school teacher and basketball coach at John F. Kennedy High School while Kristen cared for a household of seven children.  The second oldest child, their daughter Gloria, battled Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer, for over 4 years before passing away on September 21, 2007 at age 11.  During Gloria's ordeal, Kristen also suffered from the effects of Multiple Sclerosis which at times restricted her to bed rest.

The Strauss Family experienced a tremendous outpouring of support from their extended family, friends, church, community, school and employer.  As they faced many challenges, help came from all corners.  Some people donated to the benevolent fund to offset financial hardships of the family.  Others brought meals over daily.  Work parties formed to take care of time-consuming, domestic tasks such as yard maintenance, house cleaning, laundry, and home repairs.  And many people prayed for Gloria and the family.  The number of things people did to support the Strauss Family is too long to list, but through it all, their community was transformed.

Their experience served as the blueprint for Gloria's Angels.  A few months after Gloria's passing, Doug and Kristen launched this nonprofit organization.  We thank you for your interest and hope that you will consider supporting our mission through your time, talent or treasure.  We invite you to explore our site and contact us if you have any questions.
