What happens when a church congregation and school get together to help one of their own?

A two word answer - Team Mary!  Ninety-three (93) people have come together to perform an amazing work in serving their friend who is battling cancer.  In May, 65 people gathered in the cafeteria at the St. Charles Borromeo parish school for the kickoff meeting to form Team Mary.  That night, Mary's community turned "feel good" into action.  The Family Coordinator even had a Team Mary banner created to rally the team.  The team took time to create a video shout-out to Mary to express their love and support.  (more details about the team structure and size are below)

The team has formed to complete a 6 month action plan across 12 different service areas.

Here are some examples of the the loving care that this fabulous team are performing:

  • Essential groceries purchased by the team and delivered to the home weekly.
  • Dinner delivered 4 nights per week.
  • One fundraiser already completed with more in the works.
  • Free car repair and servicing donated.
  • Standby list of people to provide in-home companionship and care for times when chemotherapy keeps Mary bedridden.
  • Doorstep pickup of 3 loads of laundry, redelivered clean and folded weekly.

And the team is just getting started.  Way to go Team Mary - we look forward to seeing the awesome report card that results in a few months from all of your selfless service!  In the meantime, we ask everyone to continue to pray that Mary's treatments successfully eradicate the cancer.
